Ibn Battuta 2nd part (last)

.

The mall is something like a museum, showcasing replicas of items used by Battuta. I have a whole folder of pictures of these, but i'll just put what i can. The mall also shows what Islam has discovered, maths, science (astronomy), engineering, and physics. They showcase some of Islam's wise men, showcasing the histories of Ibn Sina (medicine), Abbas Bin Firnas (Engineer of Flight), Al Khaytam (Optics), Piri Reis (creation of Map, accurare nautical map in 14 Century!), Ibn Khaldun (economics), Al Kindi (philosophy), Banu Musa Brothers (tools and mechanics) and alot others...

oklah.. here are the pics

Picture here is a fountain with 6 life-size tigers around it at the Andalusia Court.

Also at Andalusia Court. check out the ceiling.

Pictures of me and the characters of Battuta...

Another life-size chinese junk in the middle of the shopping centre. Basically, all the thigns they display is life-size... hehehe...

Ibn Battuta - 1st part

Ibn Battuta Mall is a shopping destination unlike any other. It is themed around the travels of renowned 14th century Arabian explorer, Ibn Battuta . The architecture within the mall’s six courts reflects the most influential places Ibn Battuta travelled during his time, providing mall visitors an invaluable glimpse into the past. (taken from ibn battuta website).

I'm taken aback when i see the buiding from outside. its such a mammoth building. and i'm even more astonished at the internal architecture. The way the building is built, they really focus on the delicate design of the origin. The carvings are REAL! you can see mosaic, marble, fountain etc. All in real life size! Imagine the money they spend on building this building. Its so colurful and huge and sometimes i'll find myself standing and staring at the high ceiling to admire the architecture... See the pictures for yourselves!

Here is Greg, the South African guy who is the tour guide for the mall. He tells me histories of Islam and the travels of Battuta, but the best i knew about him was that he is Christian! Imagine a christian telling history of Islam to a Muslim...

This is what you'll see out the Eygpt Court - All the themed portions of the mall has its own designs. And i tell you, this architechture is at least 5 story high!

This the interior of the mall, complete with skies, buildings and trees...

The 2nd last installment of Dubai series.

The hotel i stayed for a while... fantastic. indeed the 5 star that it is. great service, warm people and of cos warm weather. the streets are peaceful and dusty, the cars are huge, fast and branded. This pic was taken on my way back to the apartment that i stayed. stayed a while at the hotel, then i stayed at a apartment. Downgraded... hehehe. but i enjoyed my stay in Dubai.

wanna guess which hotel i stayed? then look for the clue in this picture. This picture was taken at one of the restaurants in teh hotel. Yup. this hotel banyak restaurant. mana je ade restaurant. along the beach je ade 4 restaurant.

Picture ni taken kat Karama. the place where you can get bargain stuff. But when i step in, i was suddenly taken to Queensway. sebiji macam Queensway. The things they sell there appeal more to the young and trendy local kids who want to look western... all the printed tshirts can be found here. and guess wat? VCD pun ade... yang berwarna biru pun dijual jugak. tapi black marketlah... tak terang-terangan. Bila kena empit
je... mesti dorang sound..."Sir, latest DVD, superman, carribean, 'biru'..." hehehe...

One of the small mosque i took along the road... best kalau jalan jalan kat road, kalau tiba je waktu solat... bunyi azan bunyi tak henti henti... pasal every 100 m ade masjid, sume kecik kecik, macam surau. tapi bila ternampak yang besar punya... WOW! masjid Sultan pun kalah... hands down! kalau lepas Maghrib, lagi best. dorang baca surah 'live' during solat.

This is a big mosque that is near my apartment. Tapi tak tahu nama masjid. Was told that there is a bigger one called Jumeirah Mosque. Andwalked bout 1 hr to see the Jumeriah Mosque... and masyaAllah... bessaaar dah... cume tak ade space nak letak kat sini... but it looked similar to this one though, cume lagi besar and grander. The workmanship, ish ish ish... punyalah intricate... kalau nak tengok jugak... pegilah mana mana negeri arab. hehehe...

My last installment of Dubai is the shopping mall that i went. tak banyak yang i pegi. one is the Emirates Mall. Besar dia macam double or triple of Suntec, ade ski resort lagi, inbuilt. and the other one, the biggest i've been in my whole life. but then again... bukannye banyak tempat aku jelajah. Check out the name Ibn Battuta. Coming soon to a computer screen near you...

Phew... wat a week!

I'm back to update my blog after 2 quiet weeks. Not to relax but to do assignments. *sigh*...

mentally drained, but i welcome the change. Rather be tired than to start negative tots.

Finally i can continue my updates on Dubai. Dubai amazes as a place of multi nationalities! Talking abt nationalities, i tot only S'pore has awide array of national working in it. Not until i see for myself wat Dubai has for its workers. Here are pictures i took in ONE restaurant.

The first here is from Phillipines. very sweet and lovely. wish i can her home. hahaha.... but really.

the most charming of them all. and friendly too.

If i recall correctly, the lady here is from Cambodia. Travelled all the way to Dubai to work. Amazing isn't she?

as i was posing for the short, i glimpse at her and saw her with the popular "victory" sign... so ape lagi... i pun pose same same lah... hehehe...

This one here is a Russian Beauty. ade sikit atas, but what the heck... just take picture lah... marah tak marah, lain crite. anyway, they knew that i was gonna take their shots, as i'm the only one yang selalu bawak camera besar... everytime i step into the restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, dinner...

Well... things wouln't be complete is i didn't take pictures with the managers of the restaurant and the hotel right? The lady is from England and the guy there is from Sri Lanka, if i can recall correctly. Yup. Both managers. Did i mention friendly?

All the pictures wouldn't be complete if I didn't take a picture with the only "Singapore Girl" aka SIA stewardess. She looked every inch a Singaporean when she dresses up like dat... BUT.... i think you've guessed it... Diperbuat dari China. Apa nak buat... lawah org nya, cume pelat bila berbahasa... hehehe..

This round i talked about the multi nationals. the next round, i show you the architectures of the place nearer to where i stay... chows...
